Cathy Williams

Occupational Therapist

Community Team

Cathy Williams
Hi I'm Cathy.  I'm an Occupational Therapist and have been since 1991, when I graduated from the last group of OT's who studied at the Central Institute of Technology in Heretaunga, Wellington.
I've worked in physical, neurological and mental health, abroad and in NZ.  In the last 10 years I've worked for an NGO, private provider, community mental health, and an inpatient ward for elderly with mental health needs and/or dementia.  Immediately prior to that I spent 15 years raising my 3 children (twin boys and a girl).
My aim is to support my clients to live their best life.  Cliche yes, but still true.  OTs have a wholistic view and know that tinana, hinengaro, wairua and whanau (physical, mental, spiritual and social) cannot be separated as they are all connected.  I will meet you where you are and together we will identify your strengths, needs, problems and challenges.  We will identify treatment options and a treatment plan to enable you to achieve your goals, whether this is simple and quick, or more complex and ongoing.
My life experience is broad as I  have tended to be interested in most things.  I am now narrowing my range of interests (music, dance, writing, acting) and trying to focus on them.
Until the birth of my boys I worked as a Personal Fitness Consultant for 5 years where I developed a particular interest in biomechanical and neurological rehabilitation.
That follows a lifetime of working out, studying, and working at gyms abroad and in NZ.  I still go the the gym regularly and have adapted my routine to meet the requirements of my aging body by attending Groove classes which I love!

I look forward to meeting and working with you.
Kei te hikaka au ki te mahi tahi me koe.
