Shane is an Advanced Practice Physiotherapist with extensive experience in the assessment and management of musculoskeletal conditions. Originally from Ireland, Shane graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 2012 and has worked in private practice in both Ireland and New Zealand.

In 2025, Shane became one of the first clinicians in New Zealand to be registered as an Advanced Practice Physiotherapist, and the first in Wellington. This designation recognises physiotherapists who have developed highly advanced expertise in the diagnosis and management of musculoskeletal injuries.

Shane completed a Master’s degree in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy through Auckland University of Technology, where his research examined rehabilitation strategies following Achilles tendon rupture. His work contributes to improving evidence-based care for patients recovering from tendon injuries. Shane is planning to commence a PhD through AUT, continuing his research into musculoskeletal rehabilitation and injury management.

Alongside his clinical work, Shane is actively involved in teaching and professional leadership. He lectures on the fifth-year medical programme at the University of Otago in Wellington, contributing to the education of future doctors in musculoskeletal assessment and management.

Shane has also undertaken advanced training internationally. He completed an internship in the United States with EXOS, a world-leading sports performance organisation, where he worked alongside clinicians and coaches supporting elite athletes from the NFL, NBA, NHL and international athletics.

His clinical interests include musculoskeletal injuries, tendon rehabilitation, and helping active individuals return safely to sport and physical activity. Shane integrates current research, detailed assessment, and personalised rehabilitation strategies to guide patients through recovery.

Shane contributes to the development of the physiotherapy profession through his involvement with the Wellington Branch of Physiotherapy New Zealand (PNZ) and as a member of the Executive Committee of Sports Medicine New Zealand.

Outside the clinic Shane enjoys staying active and making the most of the New Zealand outdoors. He regularly trains at the gym, enjoys tramping and skiing, and practices Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
